Crystal Lake undergoing maintenance

EATON — Crystal Lake will see some changes over the next few months as work gets under way to help improve the area.

Maintenance began in June and is expected to run through at least August, though the work is weather-dependent.

“That maintenance includes cleaning to remove the debris and sediment, and then we’ll be inspecting the structure of the concrete spillway dam and the foundation,” City Manager Brad Collins said. “We’ll be cleaning up the lake area.”

While some of the banks will be closed around Crystal Lake, the majority of the work will be done within the lake itself, so no major closures will take place.

This type of work is not done regularly, with Collins stating this cleaning was last completed in 2004.

After the work is done, Collins said they are hoping to bring fishing back to the lake.

“We’ve been working a little bit with [Ohio Department of Natural Resources] Division of Wildlife, talking about the possibility of helping have that lake stocked once everything is ready,” Collins said.
