Broermann honored

CLEVELAND — A total of 10 runners from the Miami men’s and women’s cross country programs were honored for their efforts on the course and in the classroom as Academic All-Mid-American Conference selections on Friday.

The list of honorees includes Eaton High School graduate Taylor Broermann. Broermann is a sophomore at Miami with a 3.40 gpa majoring in Kenesiology. She is the daughter of Lisa and Mike Broermann. She participates in both cross country and track and field for the Redhawks.

Also, landing on the postseason academic team from the men’s squad are Stephen Biebelhausen (Rochester, Mich./Rochester Adams), Matthew Dietrich (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), Andrew Dusing (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) and Ben Metzger (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier). The women’s team was represented by Lauren Hoover (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson), Allison Klonne (Cincinnati/Sycamore), Kelsey Kohls (Centerville/Centerville), Maria Scavuzzo (Medina/Medina) and Maria Weisgerber (Cincinnati/St. Ursula Academy).

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
