Camden American Legion to build new facility

CAMDEN — The American Legion Post in Camden is looking to construct a new building in the Village of Camden.

Jonathan Schaaf with RDA Group Architects LLC attended the Camden Village Council meeting on Thursday, Nov. 2, to seek approval from council on the proposed project.

“Its a one story, 3,200 square foot metal building that they’re looking to construct on that property. There is currently an existing barn and a covered shelter. They would like to build this building to have the post there. Metal siding, metal roof, a porch that is covered, steps, and the flag pole out front by the parking,” Schaaf said.

“This is for the first phase, which is the shell permit, in order to get the shell under way before the winter.”

Council member Melissa Shull asked if the Post was going to open its roadway to enter, but representatives with the American Legion responded they had no plans to at this point. Shull recommended doing so.

Council member Kelly Doran moved to accept the plans as drawn and the vote passed.
