Twin Valley South’s girls basketball team collected its first win of the 2013-14 season when it defeated Jefferson, 46-36, Monday, Feb. 10.

The Panthers were led in scoring by Bailey Schwaberow with 13 points, Kacy Bolton’s 10, and Madison Wright’s 8. Emily Hutchings added six and Megan Wright chipped in with five.

South trailed 11-10 after the opening quarter, but held an 18-17 lead at the break. The Panthers extended their lead to 32-28 after three quarters.

“We made just enough foul shots down the stretch to hold on to the win. Got good contributions from all nine girls who played tonight,” South coach Glen Mabry said. “(The) girls have worked hard to get this win and I hope it builds a little more confidence that they can go out and win again.”

South closed out the regular season with a loss to Cross County Conference Champion Miami East on Thursday.

The Panthers (1-20) are scheduled to play Bradford in the Division IV sectional tournament at Brookville on, Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.
