Panthers sweep Carlisle

CARLISLE — Twin Valley South’s volleyball team won its second straight match of the season with a straight set victory over host Carlisle on Saturday, Aug. 26.

The Panthers controlled the match winning 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.

Leading the way for the Panthers was setter Mylan Crews with two aces, ten digs, a save, 23 assists and three kills.

Middle hitter Claire Fergus had a nice outing at the net charting eight kills. Outside hitters Mackenzie Neal and Riley Gearhart turned in solid all-round performances.

Neal went 10 of 11 on serve receive, with two aces, 15 digs and seven kills, while Gearhart had three aces, was 4 of 4 on serve receive, had 14 digs, an assist, with 7 kills.

Libero Sidney Mowell turned in a solid defensive effort as she went 17 of 18 on serve receive, with 18 digs.

Middle hitter Audrey Chesney went 10 of 10 behind the service stripe, with one dig, five kills and a solo block.

Opposite hitter Samantha Janecek had three aces, came up with five digs and charted a kill. Alyssa Clark had two digs while Maegan Carson charted a dig and two kills.

South picked up is first win of the season witha 25-13, 25-19, 25-23 victory over Stivers on Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Mylan Crews paced the Lady Panthers attack by charting two aces, 13 digs, 13 assists, four kills and a solo block. Audrey Chesney posted four aces, five kills and two solo blocks. Sidney Mowell came up with 10 digs. Mackenzie Neal chipped in with eight digs, four kills and two solo blocks. Claire Fergus chipped in 3 kills.

South opened the season on Monday, Aug. 21 with a loss to Fort Recovery.

TVS is now 2-1 overall. The Panthers were scheduled to begin conference play Tuesday, Aug. 29 with a trip to Mississiniwa Valley.

The next home match is Thursday when South is scheduled to host Franklin-Monroe.
