Wright takes 4th at Tiffin

TIFFIN — Competing in one of the largest and possibly toughest cross country meets in the state of Ohio and the country, Twin Valley South’s Madison and Megan Wright solidified themselves as two of the top runners in the state in Division III.

Madison, who also plays volleyball for the Panthers, ran a season-best 19 minutes, 33.7 seconds to place fourth in the Division III varsity race at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival Invitation on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Megan, also a member of the soccer team, placed 65th in 21:41.8.

A total of 373 runners competed in the D-III race. Minster won the team title with 81 points. Columbus Grove was second with 282, while Berkshire won a tiebreaker with and Northmor for third place. Both team finished with 281 points.

A total of 356 teams and nearly 8,000 runners took part in the day-long event. There were a total of 21 races for junior high and high school runners and another four races for elementary-aged runners.

South will return to action Saturday, Sept. 10, when they travel to Cedarville. On Tuesday, Sept. 20, they will run at the Preble County meet, hosted by National Trail.
