LEWISBURG — Preble Shawnee’s volleyball team outlasted Tri-County North to earn a victory in five sets on Monday Oct. 10.

“We took them to five sets but they were victorious,” said North coach Melissa Stockwell-Wilson, who was a proud but disappointed.

North was able to win the first set 25-21, but lost the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-17. Just when things looked bleak, the Lady Panthers tied up the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth set. Neither team showed any sign of quitting in the final set as the Lady Arrows edged out the visitors 16-14.

On Tuesday, Oct. 11, North played Ansonia and lost in three sets, 25-15, 25-18, and 25-21.

Preble Shawnee is now 11-9 on the season overall, with a game scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 13 against Milton-Union.

Tri-County North is 3-16 overall and was scheduled to play Thursday night at Tri-Village.

Both teams will compete in their respective sectional tournaments next week: North on Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Arcanum 1 sectionals against the winner of the Ft. Loramie/Houston game, while the Arrows will play on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Dixie High School versus Triad.
