CARLISLE — Twin Valley South’s girls’ basketball team opened the 2016-17 season with a 51-26 win over Northridge on Friday, Nov. 25, on the opening night of the CCC/SWBL Tip-Off Challenge at Carlisle. On Saturday, South fell to the host Indians 65-35.
Against Northridge, junior Mylan Crews paced the Panthers with 11 points, while senior Emily Hutchings had 10, junior Kelsie Shafer added nine points and 15 rebounds and junior Abby Bingham and sophomore Abby Robertson each added six.
South jumped out to a 14-6 lead after the first quarter and extended its lead to 32-7 by halftime.
Against Carlisle, Shafer led the way with 13 points, while Crews chipped in with 11. No other Panther scored more than three points.
South (1-1) is scheduled to play at Covington on Thursday, Dec. 1, and at Dayton Jefferson on Monday, Dec. 5. The Jefferson contest will be varsity only.
