NEW PARIS — Micaiah Byrd and Skyler Ward each scored in double digits to lead National Trail’s girls’ basketball team to a 64-41 win over visiting Tri-County North on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
Byrd scored 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including going 5-of-11 from 3-point range to lead the way.
Ward added 17 points, eight steals, seven assists and five rebounds as the Blazers won their season-opener.
J’da Jackson tossed in nine points and had three steals. Rylee Minner contributed eight points and four steals.
For North, Rilee Terry led the way with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and had 16 rebounds. Hannah Webster added 11 points and four rebounds.
Trail jumped out to a big lead after the first quarter, 21-7 and extended it to 39-16 by halftime as they forced 34 North turnovers on the night.
Trail (1-0) was scheduled to host Dayton Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 30, Bradford on Thursday and Belmont on Saturday.
North (1-1) was scheduled to play at New Miami on Monday, Nov. 29 and at Stivers on Tuesday, before hosting Tri-Village on Thursday to close out the week.
