CAMDEN — The Preble Shawnee Lady Arrows lost in four sets, 25-23, 21-25, 13-25 and 14-25, to the Waynesville Lady Spartans, on Thursday, Sept. 29.
The first set was a victory for Shawnee, and the team was able to edge out the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division-leading Spartans. But the visiting Spartans regrouped and were able to win the next three sets despite a spirited effort by the home Arrows.
The second set was as equally contested as the first, but the next two sets belonged to Waynesville.
Senior hitter Elise Walker led Shawnee with 14 kills, 18 digs, and two aces. Savannah Lynch made six aces and nine digs. Brianna Wells contributed with 18 digs. Carol Cappel and Miranda Chaney added 12 and 11 digs respectively.
Preble Shawnee is now 8-9 on the regular season, and 6-3 in the Buckeye Division of the SWBL. Waynesville remains unbeaten in the league at 7-0.
The Lady Arrows were scheduled to play their next match on Monday, Oct. 3, against Dayton Christian.
