CEDARVILLE — The National Trail boys cross country team came in second place at the Division III Cedarville District tournament on Saturday, Oct. 22, earning the runner-up team finish with a score of 162 and qualifying the Blazers for the regional meet which will be run in Troy on Saturday, Oct. 29.
Lane Unger led the team at with a 17th place finish in a time of 17:20. Josh Bishop was the next Trail runner to cross the finish line, placing 20th in 17:25, while Weston Haws came in 36th at the 17:53 mark. Rounding out the rest of the team were Adam Eyler (41st, 17:55) and Travis Hunt (48th, 18:04.)
The girls’ team was one runner short of scoring as a team. Sophomore Lady Blazer runner Evan Byrd placed 39th with a time of 21:52, just seven spots short of qualifying as an individual. JaLynn Byrd, a junior, came in 105th at the 24:38 mark. Senior Casey Thompson was the third Trail runner to finish the race at 140th in 26:54. Junior Katie Buehner took 153rd in 28:05.
“The team is looking forward to another opportunity to prove how good they can truly be on their trip to regionals,” said Trail coach James Byrd. “The team would appreciate everyone’s support in their quest to reach the state meet.”
