EATON — You are invited to Senior Center Month National Advocacy Day on Friday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m.-noon. We have invited local and state politicians to join us for our Fireside Chat. This will not be the traditional forum where we ask questions for our legislators, but instead we will be telling them our own stories, and how important this agency is in our community. If you have a story to share on how the Preble County Council on Aging has affected your life, let us know. If you want to share or speak call 937-456-4947 before Sept. 15. Regardless, stop in and listen, picnic lunch will be served.

Closed: We will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 19 for our annual All-Staff Meeting.

ABC’s of Medicare: Reid Health Alliance will be here speaking on this topic on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m.

Birthday Bash: Celebrate you September birthday with us on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 1:30 p.m.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren: A great resource with friendly ears, kind hearts, and non-judgement. A support network with Q & A, and speakers to answer those bigger questions. Join us as we come together to share on Friday, Sept. 22, 10-11 a.m. and/or Friday, Sept. 29, 1-2 p.m.

Helping Birds through Winter: Jo Ann Hoffman’s mom was a master birder, ornithologist, and was president of local bird clubs, and state ornithological societies. Jo Ann has always loved birds and can identify and accurately draw birds. She is excited to share her knowledge of birds with you on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 1:30 p.m. at the Senior Activities Center.

Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop: Learn to better self-manage your health. Topics will include, strategies to deal with stress, fatigue, pain, weight management, and depression. Using physical activity to maintain and improve strength, flexibility, and endurance. Appropriate use of medications, and communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals. This class is a 6-week long class beginning Oct. 10. Each class runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Space is limited, call to reserve your spot, 937-456-4947. There is no charge to attend this workshop.

Historic WACO Field: The WACO Aircraft Company was the largest manufacturer of civil aircraft in the country in the late 1920s and early ’30s. The museum is dedicated to the plant and employees that made it great. Learn more by going on this mini trip with us on Tuesday, Oct. 24. $27 Members, $37 for Non Members.
