EATON — Easter week vacationing makes it a challenging time for blood collections, according to the Community Blood Center.

Residents can help by donating at the Preble County YMCA community blood drive Thursday, April 21 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at 450 Washington Jackson Road, Eaton.

The Easter holiday period is an especially challenging time for maintaining the blood supply because of spring breaks, vacation travel, and holiday closings.

Type O blood remains in low supply. CBC is urging community members to set a goal to donate three times in 2022. Consider donating platelets, plasma or double red cells. Call 937-461-3220 to learn how to help.

Blood donation requirements: Donors are required to provide a photo ID that includes their full name. Past CBC donors are also asked to bring their CBC donor ID card. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with parental consent: form available at www.givingblood.org or at the Dayton CBC and mobile blood drive locations), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds (donors may have to weigh more depending on height), and be in good physical health.
