EATON — Northern Connection’s “Lunch & Learn” meeting is on Dec. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, located at 301 E. Main Street in New Paris. Thanks to Crossroads for sponsoring. The Northern Connection is a partnership between the Preble County Council on Aging and the St. Paul United Methodist Church. Lunch is served at no charge (donations are welcome) followed by either a speaker on a topic of interest, or entertainment. Information is also available on services provided by the Preble County Council on Aging. Everyone is welcome to attend. This month Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care will be sharing about what they do in helping others with chronic illness or those in need of pain and symptom management. Thursday Night Dance: Thursday, Dec. 15, is “Ugly Sweater” Night. Wear your best ugly sweater to the dance, prizes will be given!! Thanks to Greenbriar for sponsoring. The Thursday Night Dance is held every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at The Grange at 501 Nation Avenue, Eaton. The Silvertones, a local band from Camden, Ohio will provide an enjoyable evening of classic rock & roll and country music for your listening and dancing pleasure. Band members include Michael Powers on piano; Mike Buckley, lead guitar; Danny Witt, bass; and Gary “Pete” Peters on drums. The dance features delicious food, with a $1 menu, a 50/50 drawing, and door prizes. Admission is $3 per individual/$5 per couple. Join us for a fun evening!

Member’s Event: Member’s Appreciation day on Monday, Dec. 19, from 1-4 p.m. Join us for live music by Open Road Band, hors d’oeuvres and drinks. History of Santa Claus: Hear the history of Santa Claus on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m.

Center is Closed for Christmas Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Dec. 26. We are closed for the New Year Friday, Dec. 30 through Jan. 2.

Energy Assistance Programs: HEAP: Provides a one-time benefit to your main heating source account. The HEAP program ends June 30, 2017.

WCP: Provides a benefit once per heating season to your main and/or electric accounts. The benefit can be used by eligible households that are disconnected, need to establish new service or pay to transfer service, or have 25 percent (or less) bulk fuel. The program can also assist with fuel tank placement, fuel tank testing and furnace repair. The 2016 WCP program begins Nov. 1, 2016 and ends March 31, 2017.

PIPP Plus: An extended payment arrangement that requires regulated gas and electric companies to accept payments based on a percentage of the household income. Complete the application to apply for PIPP Plus or visit your local delegate agency.

HWAP: A residential energy efficiency program that reduces the energy use of qualified households.
