EATON — Preble County Commissioners opened a bid for a Lexington-Salem Road reconstruction project during their meeting on Wednesday, July 12.

There was only one bid on the project, from Barrett Paving Materials out of Franklin.

“Your chances are pretty good,” Commissioner Rodney Creech joked.

Barrett Paving Materials Inc. is located in four different regions: Mid-Ohio Region (MOH), Midwest Central Region (MWC), New York Central Region (NYC), and New York Northern Region (NYN).

According to their website, “We provide advanced solutions for our customer’s needs while having a positive impact in our local communities and generating sustainable growth and long-term value for our shareholders. Our mission is to strengthen and grow our infrastructure products and services by empowering and developing our people, fostering innovation, utilizing new technology and maximizing vertical integration at all levels of the company’s value chain.”

Their bid for the Lexington Salem Road reconstruction project was $1,405,569.23.

Creech asked how many miles the project was for and was told three and a half miles.

“Three and a half, which comes out to about $400,000, which is about what it takes, right?” Commissioner Chris Day said. “That being the only bid, I entertain a motion to note receipt and forward on to the engineer for his review and recommendation.”

The commissioners all voted to accept the motion.
