Fundraiser to be held for Brandy Reier

NEW PARIS — Brandy Dawn Reier, 23, passed away on Friday, June 8, at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

She was from New Madison, but had ties to the New Paris area through her father’s business and her church — Ceder Grove Church of Brethren. Because of these ties, the New Paris Community is banding together on Tuesday, July 3 to hold a fundraiser in Reier’s name.

A memorial scholarship is being set up to benefit Tri-Village High School Seniors — the very school Reier graduated from in 2013. Not only will the fundraiser be generating funds for the memorial scholarship, but it will also be raising awareness for Wegener’s granulomatosis, which Reier was diagnosed with when she was 14.

Reier was a 2013 graduate of Tri-Village High School in New Madison and graduated from Indiana University East in May 2018 with a Bachelors of Science in Education. She was employed as a Pre-School Teacher at Oak Park Early Learning Academy in Richmond, Indiana.

Natural Springs Resort in New Paris is hosting their annual Fireworks and Independence Day celebration on Tuesday, July 3. The fundraiser will be held there during the fireworks. Simpson’s Kitchen, a food truck out of New Paris, will be preparing food for the event. Food will be sold by the park entrance from 3 p.m. until after the fireworks. All proceeds will go towards Reier’s Memorial Scholarship.

Anyone interested in donating to the scholarship fund is welcome to attend the event on Tuesday, July 3, or can write a check to Tri-Village Schools with the note stating Brandy Reier Scholarship Fund.
