Commissioners plan special meeting

EATON — The Preble County Board of Commissioners recently discussed planning a special meeting to discuss the two proposed Preble County solar farms.

Commission President Rodney Creech was asked about the potential for a special meeting by concerned citizens. He brought the issue up during the Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday, Feb. 11.

“What do they expect you guys to do?” Commission Clerk Kim Keller asked.

“Just listen,” Creech responded. “There is so much to it. I think they want us to just listen. I told them, we don’t really have the authority to stop it. We will have some authority with the exemptions. Both of the projects did move forward as of Friday. They are officially projects. I think [residents] want to be heard and I think think they want to know where we stand.”

The board agreed to speak to legal council and set a date during their next meeting.

In other business:

•The board authorized an expenditure in the amount of $5,585.97 for the purchase and installation of an antenna, cabinet, and duplexer for an Itac Repeater for the Sheriff’s Department.

•The board approved a hearing test agreement with Industrial Health Test for the Landfill ($409) and Engineer ($850).

The Preble County Board of Commissioners meet every Monday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Preble County Courthouse, unless noted otherwise.
