LEWISBURG — The Village of Lewisburg council set a public hearing for a rezoning issue during their meeting held Thursday, Dec. 3.

Council will hold the public hearing on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 7:45 p.m., regarding the potential rezoning of the old Midway property. The 3.59 acres of property is now non-conforming and has been sold to a family which wishes to rezone the land as an office/residential district property, as opposed to R-I Suburban residential, as it currently sits. The new ownership feels the change will make it more marketable.

“(The property will) blend somewhat with the industrial property across the street from it and with the factory to the north,” said Village of Lewisburg solicitor Richard Faber.

In other business, Cargill Cares, as part of their community enrichment program, donated $7,500 to the village as part of their environmental stewardship.

“Thank you for submitting it and thank you guys for doing what you do,” said Cargill Cares representative Steve Hawley.

Council also appointed Kim Cahill as the record keeper for village council, the park board, planning commission, and board of appeals. This will consolidate and keep their record keeping consistent and more organized.

They also announced that the Lewisburg Fire Department will be hosting a breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 9-10 a.m.

The village council meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Firehouse Meeting Room at 7:30 p.m. Their next regular meeting will be on Thursday, Dec. 17.
