Fatal crash investigated

PREBLE COUNTY —A Darke County resident died as a result of a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday, April 16.

The Preble County Sheriff’s Office at press time was still investigating the the crash which occurred on Tuesday, April 16, on Ohio 503, just south of Pyrmont Road. The crash occurred at approximately 4:54 p.m., according to Sheriff Mike Simpson.

The initial investigation determined that a 2013 Dodge Dart, driven by Tara Redmond, 29, of Pitsburg, was traveling northbound. It traveled left of center into the southbound lane and was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck, driven by Eric Brubaker.

“Just prior to the crash, a witness observed the Dodge Dart driving erratically,” Simpson reported.

Redmond was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Brubaker, 37, of Camden, was transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton by the West Alexandria EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ohio 503 remained closed for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated.

Lewisburg Fire & EMS, West Alexandria EMS and the West Alexandria FD responded to the scene. Lewisburg and West Alexandria Police Departments assisted with traffic.

The crash remained under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office and the Preble County Coroner’s Office at press time.
