PREBLE COUNTY — After a delicious roast pork meal, served by the members of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, President Harold Niehaus led the informative Sept. 10 meeting of Preble County Retired Teachers Association.

Highlights of the business meeting included a reminder to collect 2019 volunteer hours for the Nov. 12 meeting. “Tools for Schools” supplies were purchased and delivered. Anyone not receiving the newsletter should send Paul Ellison updated email and address.

The group received thank you notes from the 2019 PCRTA scholarship recipients. Another thank you was received from teachers at Northridge Elementary. PCRTA and Auglaize County RTA partnered to send gift cards and donated books to support those teachers, affected by the Memorial Day tornadoes.

Guest speaker Kelly McChristy from STRS reported no major changes to health care for 2020, and positive growth in investments. There is no change in the current policy of no cost of living adjustment.

Guest speaker Bonnie Norris from Association Member Benefits Association explained how, through ORTA membership, she could assist with evaluating and comparing insurance coverages, as well as supplemental insurances available through AMBA. Other discounts are available as well.
