Trick or Treat Beggar’s Night

Beggar’s Night will be held on Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31, Come join the Annual Costume Parade starting at LCNB Bank on E. Dayton Street at 5:15p.m. The Kiwanis Costume Contest will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the parking lot across from the Library, and Trick or Treating will be from 6-7:30 p.m.

Firehouse BINGO

Bingo is back. Start time is 6 p.m. every Thursday for the Early Bird games. We have several progressive games we play throughout the season. Come out and try your luck. Doors open at 5 p.m. open seating, no RSVP on seating, and first come first served. Help spread the word, the higher number of attendees, the higher pay-out bracket. Light snack bar with drinks available for purchase at 25 E. Dayton Street.

American Legion

The next Fish Fry is Saturday, Oct. 19, from 5-7 p.m. and includes a 50/50 raffle.

Rock the Jukebox and Carry-in Friday, Oct. 18, from 7-11 p.m.

Euchre and Ladies Night every Wednesday evening. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Euchre starts at 7 p.m. with a 50/50 raffle.

Sr. Fun Bunch meets every Thursday from 1-4 p.m. for music and dancing at 1477 Ohio 503 South.

Turkey Shoot, TVRGC

Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club is sponsoring a Turkey Shoot at 1 p.m. on Sundays, Oct. 13, 20, 27 and Nov. 3, 10, and 17. The public is welcome and there is a lunch stand in the Clubhouse. Contact H.K. Steiner at 232-4504, Curtis Early at 533-3226 or Paul Price at 248-1083.

Youth Pheasant Hunt

Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club is sponsoring a Youth Pheasant Hunt at Ulrich’s Hunting Preserve on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with complimentary Lunch at noon for both sessions. Hunt is open to youth 12-18 years of age who have completed a Hunter Education Course. Proof of Certification is required. The hunt is free but limited to 20 young participants with two rooster pheasant per hunt. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 14. Ulrich’s Hunting Preserve is located at 4964 Enterprise Road. Historical WA Book Available

The “History of the First Forty Lots of West Alexandria, Ohio,” written by Audrey Gilbert and Ronald Dafler is now available. The book provides important historical information about the deed transfers for each lot and their purchasers, going back as early as 1818. It includes details of births, deaths, marriages, occupations, military service and civic involvement, plus over 90 pictures telling the story of West Alexandria’s origins, and painting a picture of the lives of its earliest residents. In addition to its important contributions to the preservation of the town’s history, the book will also serve as a vital resource to genealogists researching family histories.

This book can be purchased for $25 at The Archive, located in the West Alexandria Library, on Mondays or Wednesdays from 2-4 p.m., or can be ordered at [email protected] where shipping charges apply, or by calling 937-839-4819. West Alexandria Archive is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are funded solely by donations. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Foodbank

The WA Foodbank served 56 households in September, including 24 seniors,106 adults, and 76 children for a total of 206 people served. We are currently asking for gently used winter coats. Also, Foodbank needs are instant potatoes, pork and beans, peas and ramen noodles. The Foodbank is open from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays and Wednesdays and is located at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Contact the Foodbank at 839-1615 for additional information. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off at Salem and St. John Lutheran Churches the first Sunday of each month.

CCC Homecoming Concert

Join the Community Christian Church Praise Team for dinner and an evening of Southern Gospel favorites on Friday, November 8, or Saturday, November 9 at 11 Dorsey Akers Drive. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person or $7 for children ten and under. Salem Lutheran Church

Stop the Bleed Training will take place Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action dedicated to cultivating grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Salem Kids meet every Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. for a meal followed by a program from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Kids age 3 years through sixth grade are welcome to be a part of Salem Kids which includes a meal, Bible lessons, fun activities and service projects. The Men’s Bible Study and Breakfast meets in the Fellowship Hall the third Saturday of each month; next on Oct. 19.

Disaster recovery efforts are ongoing, including the POD Project and the Blanket and Bible ministry, which is collecting new or gently used Bibles to accompany quilts and soap for national disaster relief. The SWNALC Backpack Ministry distributed 110 backpacks to local schools and areas affected by tornados this year.

A Casserole Care Team has been established, providing ready-made, frozen casseroles with baking instructions for those in need.

Middle School Ministry meets every Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.

A thank offering will be collected during Sunday Worship on Nov. 10 to support Wernle, Adopt-a-Family and the local Food Bank.

Donate your unwanted or recently expired coupons to Coups for Troops to assist military overseas where commissaries accept manufacturer coupons up to two months expired. There is a designated basket in the church library.
