Accumulating snow possible this weekend

EATON — Despite a lack of much accumulating snow so far this winter, forecasts out of the National Weather Service in Wilmington are calling for potential accumulation this weekend.

According to NWS, after 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, there will be a chance of snow, mixing with rain later in the day with a high temperature near 35 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible,.

Saturday night, snow is forecast with a low around 29 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent, with new snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

On Sunday, NWS is forecasting snow likely before 8 a.m., then rain and snow likely later. The day will be cloudy, with a high near 37 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Sunday night, rain and snow is likely before 9 p.m., then a chance of snow. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Chances for snow continue before 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, with a high temperature around 27 degrees and a low around 19 degrees Monday night.

Tuesday is forecast to be mostly sunny, with a high near 29 degrees, and a low around 17 degrees Tuesday night.
