Kiwanis Oktoberfest set for this weekend

WEST ALEXANDRIA — The 53rd Kiwanis Oktoberfest Fall Arts and Crafts Festival will be held at Peace Park in West Alexandria this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 9 and Sunday, Oct. 10.

The festival returns to West Alexandria this year after being cancelled in 2020.

The Oktoberfest parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the opening ceremonies, the announcement of the Citizen of the Year, the crowning of the new Oktoberfest Queen and the Oktoberfest Miss and Mr. Pageant.

The annual Oktoberfest Queen pageant will be held Saturday, Oct. 9 at Peace Park.

Real Roots Radio, WEDI, WBZI and WKFI will be broadcasting remotely from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday. In addition to arts and crafts, there is a great variety of food and beverages.

Also over the weekend will be the 54th Annual Antique Car Covered Bridge Run, beginning at noon on Sunday, Oct. 10 during the Kiwanis Oktoberfest. Sign-ups for 1960 or earlier vehicles take place at the car corral in the back of Peace Park from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Entry fee is $10.

Cash prizes for first place through third place and a last place trophy awarded. For more information, contact Jack Tims at 937-838-1949.

Kiwanis Oktoberfest will also conincide with community garage sales, taking place from Thursday, Oct. 7 through Saturday, Oct. 9. There will be no sale permits required during these days.
