Health district, services for seniors on November ballot

PREBLE COUNTY — Area voters will see two countywide ballot issues when they go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 2: one supporting senior citizens services and another supporting the Preble County General Health District.

Issue 1 on next Tuesday’s ballot is a replacement of a 1-mill existing levy and an increase of 0.5 mill “to constitute a tax for the benefit of Preble County for the purpose of providing and maintaining senior citizens services and facilities by and through the Preble County Council on Aging or its successor, at a rate not exceeding 1.5 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.15 for each one hundred dollars in valuation, for 5 years, commencing in 2022, first due in calendar year 2023.”

Issue 2 is a renewal of a tax “for the benefit of the Preble County General Health District for the purpose of providing funds to support the General Health District programs, services, and clinics, at a rate not exceeding 0.3 mill for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.03 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for 5 years, commencing in 2021, first due in calendar year 2022.”

The following issues will also be on the upcoming ballot:

Issue 3: Village of College Corner – Renewal, 5.2 mills, fire protection, five years.

Issue 4: Village of Lewisburg – Renewal, 1 mill, parks and recreation purposes, five years.

Issue 5: Village of New Paris – Renewal, 2 mills, current operating expenses, five years.

Issue 6: Village of West Alexandria – Additional, 4 mills, police protection, four years.

Issue 7: Village of West Elkton, Renewal, 1.25 mills, emergency ambulance service, five years.

Issue 8: Village of West Manchester – Additional, 2 mills, street maintenance, five years.

Issue 9: Gasper Township – Replacement, 2.1 mills, fire and EMS services, five year.

Issue 10: Gasper Township – Renewal, 1 mill, emergency medical services, two years.

Issue 11: Harrison Township – Renewal, 0.6 mill, cemetery operations, five years.

Issue 12: Monroe Township – Renewal, 0.5 mill, cemetery maintenance, five years.

Issue 13: Monroe Township – Replacement, 2.5 mills, fire protection, continuing period of time.

Issue 14: Somers Township – Replacement, 0.6 mill, maintaining and operating the cemeteries, five years.

Issue 15: Twin Township – Renewal, 2 mills, fire and ambulance services, five years.

Issue 16: Twin Valley Community LSD – Renewal, 0.75 percent income tax, current expenses, five years.

Issue 17: Twin Valley Community LSD – Renewal, 2 mills, permanent improvements, five years.
