LEWISBURG — Lewisburg Village Council met on Thursday, Sept. 1, and discussed upcoming events and activities.

Village Manager Jeff Sewert provided council reminders of several events which are coming up in the village. The Bicentennial Store will have a grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 10. On Thursday, Sept. 15, there will be a State of the Village event, with Mayor Marsha Jones, Tri-County North Superintendent Bill Derringer, Preble County Commissioner David Haber, and State Representative Rodney Creech all set to speak.

Since the State of the Village is on a Thursday and at the same time as council’s regular meeting, council has changed the time of their normal meeting to 7:30 p.m. so as not to conflict with the other events.

Fire/EMS Chief BJ Sewert presented his safety report and informed council his team is on second round interviews for a full-time position at the firehouse. Chief Sewert hopes to bring a recommendation for an employee to the next council meeting after concluding interviews on Monday, Sept. 12.

In his parks report, Ted Theis reminded council about the upcoming Camping in the Park event on Saturday, Sept. 10. According to Theis, there will be food trucks and games and lots of fun. He noted, there are 4-5 food trucks and about 12 campers registered to stay.
