Hitchcock sisters honored

EATON — During its Monday, Dec. 16, regular meeting, Eaton City Council recognized sisters Macy and Mallory Hitchcock for their 2022 Division II State Girls Tennis Doubles Championship win.

Mayor Joe Renner presented them with the following resolution approved by council:

“Whereas sisters Macy and Mallory Hitchcock made Eaton High School tennis history by winning the 2022 Division II State Girls Doubles Championship and being the first sister team to bring home a tennis title in Eaton Community Schools history; and

“Whereas Macy was the two-time defending state singles champion, having won the title in both 2020 and 2021, but opted to play doubles during her senior tournament run, and Mallory, a sophomore, was half of the Eagles’ 2021 state doubles champion team; and

“Whereas Macy and Mallory claimed the Division II title by defeating a team from Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 6-3, 6-4, on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason; and

“Whereas the 2022 Division II State Girls Doubles Tennis Champions should be recognized for their state championship win, hard work, good sportsmanship and dedication; and

“Whereas Eaton City Council does hereby wish to honor sisters Macy and Mallory Hitchcock, the 2022 Division II State Tennis Doubles Champions;

“Therefore, now be it resolved that the members of Eaton City Council do hereby congratulate and honor State Champions Macy Hitchcock and Mallory Hitchcock and urge all citizens to reflect upon the dedication, determination and perseverance which enabled the team to earn their 2022 State Championship win; and

“Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be included in the official minutes of Eaton City Council as a lasting testament for the appreciation and affection the Eaton community has for its 2022 Division II State Doubles Tennis Champions, Macy and Mallory Hitchcock.”

The sisters were joined by their parents at the meeting to receive the recognition.
