Trail opens season with 34-6 win

CINCINNATI — For the fist time since the 2013 season, National Trail’s football won its season-opener with a 34-6 over Riverview East Academy on Friday, Aug. 24.

The game was played at Walnut Hills High School.

Junior quarterback Evynn Short completed 19-of-27 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown.

Junior Peyton Lane rushed for 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 22 yards and finished the game with 109 all-purpose yards.

Junior Zach Woodall added six catches for 70 yards and a score. Junior Joe Lawson hauled in six receptions for 56 yards.

On defense, Jacob Ray lead the team with six tackles and Justin Watts added a 75 -yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Senior Cole Yount, Lawson and senior Troy Watson each have five tackles.

Junior Colton Toms added a pair of field goals and two extra-points.

The Blazers will play their first home game on Friday, Aug. 31 when they host Arcanum.
