TROY — National Trail and Twin Valley South’s cross country teams ended their respective seasons at the regional championships.

National Trail’s boys cross county team placed ninth at the Division III with 207 points. The top four teams and 16 individuals qualified for the state meet.

Ft. Loramie (60), Summit Country Day (68), West Liberty-Salem (75) and Cedarville (111) all advanced.

Senior Josh Bishop led the Blazers with a 23rd place finish in 17 minutes, 11.91 seconds. Senior Travis Hunt was 47th in 18:01.77.

Cameron Harrison, a sophomore, was 56th in 18:09.39. Sophomore Caleb VanWinkle was 61st in 18:30.08. Senior Adam Eyler was 75th in 19:04.33.

Freshman Ethan Murphy finished 77th in 19:16.70 and senior Ian Miller was 86th in 19:43.90.

For Twin Valley South, Kyle Saul placed 24th in 17:21.37, his third best time of his career. Freshman Aaron Cole was 45th in 17:55.44.

Junior Zoe Utsinger was 34th in the girls race with a time of 21:24.64.

“I was happy with all three athletes and their performances. That was Kyle’s third best time of his career and a 24th place finish was a good finish in a fast field this year. Aaron breaking 18 (minutes) for a third straight race to end his freshman year was a good way to go out,” South coach Richie Faber said. “Zoe performed much better than a year ago. She did well to get to the Regional Meet considering she had roughly three weeks of practice coming off of an injury to prepare for this meet. I think all three are set up to have good track seasons and come back next year and maybe take the next step and qualify for state.”

National Trail senior Josh Bishop finished his high school career with a 23rd place finish at the Division III regional championships on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Troy. He led the Blazers to a ninth place finish in the team standings.
