LEWISBURG —Tri-County North’s softball team split a pair of conference games last week.
North suffered a 9-1 setback to Newton on Thursday, April 11, before knocking off Tri-Village 11-1 on Friday.
Thursday was a long day for the Panthers.
Newton scored five runs in the sixth inning to pull away for the win.
Riley Cruse toed the rubber for Tri-County North. She lasted 4.1 innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out five and walking one. Sidney Jackson threw 1.2 innings out of the bullpen.
Jackson had the lone offensive highlight for North. She homered in the sixth inning
Avery Shank, Jackson, Taylor Green, Jaelyn Hawkins, Cruse, and Kenzie Lykins each managed one hit for North.
Against T-V, Green had a big day for North.
Green showed timely hitting on Friday, driving in five on three hits to lead the Panthers past Tri-Village. Green drove in runs on a home run in the second and a single in the fifth.
North secured the win thanks to six runs in the second inning. Avery Shank, Jaelyn Hawkins, Kenzie Lykins, and Green powered the big inning with RBIs.
Emily Norris was in the pitcher’s circle for North. She gave up one run on seven hits over five innings, striking out five and walking zero.
The Panthes racked up 14 hits. Green, Norris, and Shank each managed three hits.
North (5-6) was scheduled to play at Ansonia on Tuesday, April 16 and will host Bethel on Thursday.
