North pulls upset; Eaton, TVS fall

TROY — No. 11 seed Tri-County North overcame a 23-point first half deficit to upset No. 6 Legacy Christian 76-65 in overtime in the first round of the Division IV sectional at Troy High School on Saturday, Feb. 19.

With the win, the Panthers will play No. 2 Catholic Central in the sectional final on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Logan Flory scored a game-high 31 points, including 20 in the second half and overtime to lead the comeback.

Luke Eby scored 22, including 16 in the second half and overtime.

Jon Shirley contributed 13 on the night.

North trailed 19-11 after the first quarter and 41-22 at the half.

In the third, the Panthers outscored LCA 24-9 to get with 50-46.

Trailing by three late, Eby connected on a 3-pointer to send the game into overtime.

In the overtime, Flory scored eight and the Panthers were 7-of-8 from the foul line.

Eaton falls to Tipp

KETTERING — Eaton couldn’t match Tippecanoe’s size and speed and dropped a 58-42 first round Division II sectional game on Saturday at Trent Arena.

Beau Miller led the way with 13 points, 10 in the second half. Ramy Ahmed added 10 and Christian Reyna contributed seven.

Eaton trailed 14-9 after one and was down 26-15 at the half.

Tipp turned up the pressure in the second half as they built a 49-28 lead after three.

Eaton, champions of the SWBL West Division, finished the season 9-14.

South ends season with opening round loss

TROY — Twin Valley South’s struggles down the home stretch of the season continued into the opening round of the Division IV sectional.

The No. 5 seed Panthers were upset 53-45 by No. 9 Southeastern on Friday, Feb. 18 at Troy High School.

South lost its last five games of the season and seven of its last eight to end the year 11-10.
