LEWISBURG — The Tri-County North girls soccer team beat National Trail 4-0 in a Cross County Conference battle on Thursday, Oct. 13.
The Panthers were able to score two goals in each half to shut out the Blazers. Although Rachel Ray, Taylor Middleton, Kate Othersen and Kristan Othersen were able to have multiple shots on goal, National Trail was unable to get anything past the Panther defense.
Goals by North came from Hailey Thies, who had two, and from Megan Hemp and Preston Lipinski, who each had one.
“Offensively, we just could not get anything going,” said Trail coach Lisa McClosky. “It was disappointing to end the season with a loss, but I wasn’t disappointed in the girls’ performance. They have had a great growing season and have improved tremendously. I am proud of all of them and the work they have done.”
The Lady Blazer’s goalkeeper, Trena Caldwell, had 12 saves for the night.
National Trail ends the regular season with a record of 4-8-3 and a conference record of 0-5-1, while Tri-County North owns a 6-5-4 overall record, and is 2-4 in the CCC.
Tri-County North also held their Senior Night, last Thursday, honoring three seniors: Emily Browning, Paige Daugherty, and Chelsey Strawser.
“It was an amazing night, especially for our seniors,” said TCN coach Clint Daugherty. “The girls played great, they came out and did their best for the home team, and for Coach Daren Baldasare, who is battling an illness and was unable to perform his duties this year. He was finally able to come out to watch our team, and the girls — in fact, the entire community, was just there for him.”
National Trail was scheduled to play Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Division III, Dayton 3 Sectional tournament against Northeastern, while TCN was scheduled to play in the Dayton 2 Sectional against Mechanicsburg.
