LEWISBURG — In May, five members of the Lewisburg Fire/EMS were recognized for recent achievements.
Firefighters Derrick Barnhart, Ryan Gebhart, and John Sanders-Tirado were honored for receiving their Level 1 firefighting certification. They completed this level of instruction through Clark State Community College. During graduation ceremonies, these gentlemen were recipients of special achievement awards.
Also at this meeting Kendra Vanover was recognized for completing her requirements to become a State of Ohio EMT. Kendra received her instruction at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center.
These previous mentioned individuals dedicated themselves for approximately 4 months to complete these courses, according to LEU/LFD Chief BJ Sewert. They will now be volunteering their services to help serve the community. According to Sewert, these new, valuable members are welcome additions to the Lewisburg Fire/EMS team.
Randy Anderson, full-time FF/Paramedic was noted for his recent promotion to Lieutenant. Anderson in the last year completed his Fire Inspector and Level 2 FF certifications. He also completed requirements to be able to instruct various classes. During the past year he initiated a cadet program for young individuals for the purpose of giving them an idea of what the Fire and Emergency Medical Services entail.
“We hope this program will be able to spark an interest in these youngsters to serve their community as Fire or EMS personnel when they graduate,” Sewert said. “Our department is continually trying to upgrade and increase our level of training so we can better serve you, our citizens.
“We are constantly attempting to recruit new members for our department. This job takes a big commitment and dedication. If you have any idea that you would like to learn more about this rewarding venture please stop by the station and talk to us,” Sewert added.
