PREBLE COUNTY — Mark your calendars for the upcoming Preble County Idol Competition.
The competition takes place this July at the Preble County Fairgrounds in the Tony building. However, there is still time to try out.
Don’t miss the last auditions Saturday, July 18 at the Preble County Historical Society. This is the final audition, and if you have missed the past two try-outs you must have two songs prepared to sing as an a capella piece.
Terri Shaffer has had quite the experience with putting on the Preble County version of the “famous” Idol competition.
“We don’t profit from the competition, we get sponsors from all over Preble County and the money goes to the winning performers,” she said. “First place gets $500, 2nd place gets $200, and 3rd place gets $100.”
The Idol competition isn’t about the money, but providing entertainment for all to enjoy.
“We get a lot of people in the audience to fill up the building, and people like it because its very good entertainment,” Shafer said.
After auditions, the top 20 performers are chosen to sing in the competition during Preble County Fair week. Then the semi-finals narrow down the competition to the top 10 performers who will then battle for the top three spots in the finals.
Don’t miss out on the fun and good entertainment supplied by local home-grown talent. For more information on auditions and the competition, visit Preble County Idol 2015 on Facebook.
