GASPER TOWNSHIP — Preble County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a two-vehicle injury crash which occurred the afternoon of Tuesday, Dec. 8 and sent a Lakengren motorcyclist to the hospital via medical helicopter.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:10 p.m.,, in the 500 block of Skodborg Drive in Lakengren in Gasper Township. The crash involved a motorcycle and a school bus from Eaton Community Schools.
According to Sheriff Mike Simpson, a preliminary investigation indicated the school bus was backing up and struck the motorcycle.
The operator of the motorcycle, Jared Winkler, 22, of Lakengren, was transported by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he was listed in critical condition at press time.
The bus had eight students on board at the time of the crash, Simpson reported.
“No students were injured and all were transferred to another bus,” he noted. “Arrangements were then made for the parents to pick up the students.”
At press time, the crash remained under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.
Gasper Township Fire & EMS responded to the scene.
