PREBLE COUNTY — Both Eaton and Preble Shawnee finished in the middle of their respective divisions during Southwestern Buckeye League play.
What wasn’t in the middle of the pack was the play of both Julia Titus (Eaton) and Elise Walker (Shawnee), who earned first team All-SWBL honors this season.
Titus, a senior, averaged a double-double for the Eagles, posting 14.9 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She also shot 51.9 percent from the floor and had four games where she scored over 20 points on the year.
Walker, a junior for the Arrows, didn’t have quite as flashy numbers as Titus but was a big presence for Shawnee on the floor during the season. She averaged 8.8 points and 6.3 rebounds on the year, scoring in double-digits in eight games – including a season-high 21 points against Ponitz in early February.
Also gaining conference honors were Sidney Lamberson and Paige Whitesell from Eaton as well as Chloe Smith and Nicole Sims for Shawnee – all of whom took home second team All-SWBL nominations.
For Eaton, Whitesell was the second leading scorer, averaging 7.9 points per game. Nine times over the course of the season, she posted points in the double-digits, including 21 against Oakwood and three consecutive games with 13 points. Lamberson added 6.6 points, 2.2 assist, and 1.6 steals per game.
At Shawnee, Smith was the leading scorer for the team, putting up 9.8 points per game, including a season-high 19 against Carlisle. She also averaged two steals and two assists per contest. She was also a sharp shooter from behind the arch, sinking 22-49 attempts on the year. Sims was also a solid scorer for the Arrows, averaging 8.6 points – with a season-high 22 against Dixie – while also putting up 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game. She was also 29-69 from three-point range.
