Story times

The New Paris Library has story time for ages 7 and under every Monday at 5 p.m. from June 13 through July 11.

The West Alexandria Library has story time for ages 7 and under every Wednesday at 1 p.m. from June 8 through July 20. Bring the kids for a story and a fun craft for Summer Reading!

Weekly Summer Reading activities

For kids age 12 and under, the Eaton Library has special programs twice a week through the Summer Reading months. Get to the library and watch plays, readers theater, hands-on activities, crafts, and more! The activities vary each week on Wednesday at 10 a.m. and a repeat of the week’s program on Thursday at 2 p.m. from June 8 through July 14.

Monday family crafts

Visit the West Alexandria Library each Monday through Summer Reading (June 6-July 18) for a new craft! From 12-7 p.m. every Monday, you can stop in at our craft area. If you don’t have time, most of the crafts can be taken home to complete.

Comedy juggler show

Preble County District Library is closing out the 2016 Summer Reading season with Comedy Juggler Matt Jergens, who will perform at each of the library’s seven branch locations. Matt mixes his incredible juggling talents with a comical style for an unforgettable performance. He’ll perform on:

Monday, July 18 at the West Manchester Library at 3 p.m. and at the New Paris Library at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, July 19 at the Eldorado Library at 3 p.m. and at the Camden Library at 6 p.m.

Thursday, July 21 at the Eaton Library at 2 p.m. and at the West Elkton Library at 5 p.m.

Friday, July 22 at the Eaton Library at 10 a.m. and at the West Alexandria Library at 12:30 p.m.

Fun crafts for ages 8-12

Each week, a new program for ages 8-12 will be at each library. From July 5-7, we’ll make a paracord bracelet. For the week beginning July 11, we’ll use household items and balls to create our own sports. From July 18-21, we’ll have Popcorn Olympics. Programs are on the following schedule:

On Mondays, the tween program will be at the Eaton Library at 2 p.m. (except July 4).

On Tuesdays, it’ll be at the Eldorado Library at 1 p.m. and the New Paris Library at 3 p.m.

On Wednesdays, it’ll be at the West Alexandria Library at 2 p.m. and at the West Manchester Library at 4 p.m.

On Thursdays, it’ll be at the Camden Library at 1 p.m. and at the West Elkton Library at 3 p.m.

Fruit and veggie blind taste testing

How well can you tell your favorite fruits and veggies apart? Put your taste buds to the test at the West Alexandria Library on Monday, July 11 at 5:30 p.m. Maybe you’ll even find something new you like. Program is for kids and families.

Teens (grades 6-12)

Henna Temporary Tattoos

Get a temporary tattoo on your arm or hand using henna, using dye from the henna tree! Make a design on your skin and stain the figures with henna dye. This program is for teens in grades 6-12, and you must have a signed permission slip to attend.

Super Smash Bros.

Play Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U at the library! Teens in grades 6-12 have two opportunities at the Eaton Library this week: Wednesday, June 29 at 3 p.m. or Friday, July 1 at 2 p.m. Registration is required for either program. Call (937) 456-4331 or stop in the library at 301 N. Barron St. to make sure spots are still available.

Animanga Gaming

If you’re a teen (grades 6-12) and you like anime and manga, don’t miss the Eaton Library’s Animanga Gaming program. Pick either Wednesday, July 6 at 3 p.m. or Friday, July 8 at 2 p.m. Call (937) 456-4331 or stop into the Eaton Library to register for your spot.

Adults

Novel Discussion Book Club

Join us at the Eaton Branch of Preble County District Library for our monthly book discussion for adults. This month, we’ll meet Thursday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss “The Four Friends” by Robyn Carr. The Novel Discussion book club meets the third Thursday of every month.

Open Computer Lab

Take advantage of the libraries new open lab hours for help with your mobile devices, Microsoft Office, research, using the library catalog, or any tech-related issue you have! No appointment is necessary. Open lab hours will be 1-4 p.m. on the following Saturdays: June 25, July 2, and July 9.

Be a Kid Again: Outdoor Fun

Remember the outdoor games you loved as a child? The monthly adult program series focuses on reminding adults of childhood. On June 28 at 6 p.m., we’ll get outdoors and play with bubbles, play hopscotch, jump rope, and more! If there’s bad weather, we’ll adapt for indoors.

Basic Computer and Internet Class

If you’re new to using a computer and the internet, the library is here to help. In this class, you’ll learn basic terminology and computer operations. You’ll also have time to practice on your own. The adult class will be at the library meeting room at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton on Thursday, July 14 at 3 p.m.

Gratitude Journaling

Our adult programs this summer focus on exercising your mind, body, and spirit. Throughout July, we’ll explore this unique journaling technique.
