COLLEGE CORNER, OHIO — For the second weekend in a row, Hannon’s Camp America in southern Preble County was a popular place among festival-goers. After last weekend’s “Fire in Your Mouth, Fire in the Sky” event, the weekend of July 13-15, brought Willy Fest to the campground.

Camp America is located near Hueston Woods, just a few miles from College Corner. It serves as a popular venue for multiple day music festivals and other events throughout the summer. This the second year Willy Fest has come to the campground, presented by the band, Glostik Willy.

The three-day event, which kicked off on Thursday, included area bands on three stages throughout all three days. The highlight of the event, southern rock legends Molly Hatchet, hit the main stage on Friday evening.

Molly Hatchet launched in the 1970s showcasing its “Southern Rock” style and has kept that approach over the years, despite lineup changes. The band’s Willy Fest performance included many of the classics that keep them popular.

While the event’s stages presented 30-plus bands during the event, music was not the only attraction at this year’s Willy Fest. Professional wrestling also highlighted the festival’s activities with late-night entertainment on both Friday and Saturday. Saturday’s “Main Event” card included wrestling icon Mick Foley, who was selected to host the event, and hardcore wrestling legend Tommy Dreamer.

The summer’s music events are not over — next up is “Wham Bam Thank U Jam” on Aug. 19-21, featuring live music and a variety of other attractions. Later that month, Aug. 26-28, the venue will be the site for the Ohmed Music Festival.
