TCN falls to MV in four sets

UNION CITY — On Thursday, Sept. 1, the Tri-County North volleyball team traveled to Mississinawa Valley in Cross County Conference action and lost to the Blackhawks, 11-25, 20-25 25-19, and 9-25.

The night started out a little slow, with both teams taking a while to get into their comfort zones. The first two sets belonged to the Blackhawks, who won the first easily, but had to earn the second.

In the third set, the Panthers came roaring back for a victory. The Blackhawks, however, were victorious in the end, winning the fourth set over the Panthers.

The Panthers were led by senior Sarah Harris, who had 15 successful attacks and two kills. Kaila McGee had 13 successful attacks and one kill. Junior Megan Pohling led with a 75 percent to target passing average. Gracie Douglas, a junior, had nine successful attacks with four kills. Sophomore Riley Cruse had 16 successful attacks and 10 assists. Cassi Stinson, a junior, led the way in serving with 19 total points.

“Overall, the girls are improving and so is the team,” said coach Melissa Wilson-Stockwell. “Great things are still to come. Although it wasn’t a successful match for Panthers, they are steadily getting more confident and are starting to work together as a team.”

Results from a match against Milton-Union on Thursday, Sept. 1, were unavailable at press time. North was scheduled to play Tuesday, Sept. 6, against Franklin-Monroe.
