WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley South lost to Union County (Ind.), 3-0, at home on Thursday, Sept. 1.
Union County scored all of its goals in the first half of play. The Panthers managed to prevent more goals, but were unable to score any goals of their own.
“We just didn’t show up for the game,” said Twin Valley South coach Clay Young. “We went down 2-0 early and then Union County hunkered down defensively with nine players on defense and left two forwards up top to kick the ball to. When you dig a hole like that, it is hard to dig yourself out.”
Young said his team had chances to close the gap in the second half.
“We did have a lot of chances the second half, we just could not convert on them,” Young said. “It is disappointing to play such a great game on Tuesday, and then two days later take a step back in the wrong direction. We will have to learn from this game, and get ready for Dixie next Tuesday night.”
TVS stands at 1-2-2 on the season, with a 0-0-1 record in the Cross County Conference. Their next match was scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 6, at home, against Dixie.
