NT, TCN runners place at Brookville invite

BROOKVILLE — The National Trail and Tri-County North High School cross country teams ran at the Brookville Invitational on Saturday Sept. 10.

For Trail’s girls, Evan Byrd was able to finish second in the race. JaLynn Byrd placed 34th.

They girls will run at Cedarville University, this year’s district course, on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The NT boys cross country team placed second out of 12 teams in the Brookville Invitational. Missing two key contributors on the day, the team was able to pull out the second place trophy with members stepping up and running strong races.

The team had four top-20 finishers out of 126 runners: Adam Eyler in seventh, Travis Hunt in eighth, Lane Unger in 16th, and Weston Haws in 17th. Josh Cook came in at 22nd, just short of placing in the top 20, while Jesse Biser came in 24th.

The boys’ team will travel to Cedarville on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Also participating in Brookville were the Tri-County North teams. The TCN girls took eighth place in the event, with 226 points, while the boys finished seventh with 206 points.

“Surprisingly, this course, which is supposed to be fast, was anything but,” said TCN coach Tim Martin. “All races, whether small school or big school, times were slower. That said, Hilt finished 14th overall in the boys race. Myers continues to shave time off as she learns how to run this race in her first ever year of running.”

Tri-County North will head to Valley View on Tuesday, Sept. 13, to run the Valley View Invitational for the first time.
