NEW PARIS — National Trail Local Schools are actively trying to add new machines to their cafeteria, in hopes of making the area more advanced and accessible.

During an NT Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 22 Food Service Supervisor Dorothy Frist reported the department is trying to make improvements to the food the school offers the students.

“We’re finally getting things back together and getting things going, without lights in some places up until Monday,” she said. “We have a couple new Pepsi machines that they brought in and gave to us. I have a new ice cream machine coming and we’re looking at trying to get a new snack machine. It’s going to be a lot more advanced and newer. Right now I’m the only mechanic our current machine has. It’s getting beyond my capabilities. Things are going good.”

Transportation Supervisor John Toschlog reported transportation has gotten off to a “smooth start.” He said there weren’t too many people standing in line at the open house and they were able to get all questions answered and sorted.

He added, two of their newest buses — number five and number 17 — are equipped with new strobe lights.

The board approved entering into a service contract with Learning Edventures Company for the 2017-2018 school year to provide curriculum, instruction, and assessment services and professional development services for NT teachers and administrators up to 50 days. The board noted, this contract is the same as it has been in the past, at a cost of $400.

The board approved entering into an agreement between the Preble County Educational Service Center and the National Trail Local School District to employ one substitute classroom para-teacher for the 2017-2018 school year.

They also approved entering into an agreement between the district and Butler County Educational Service Center to continue to provide services through the Success Liaison Program.

The next National Trail Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. at the school.
