CAMDEN — Rylie Horrigan and Cami Hollon each scored twice to lead Preble Shawnee’s girls soccer team to a 5-1 win over visiting Newton on Saturday, Aug. 25.
The win came on the heels of a 5-0 loss to Waynesville earlier in the week.
Brenna Woodard added a goal and two assists and Abby Bulach added an assist.
The Arrows led 4-1 at the half.
“(It was) a nice win after a season opening loss to Waynesville (5-0) on Thursday,” Shawnee coach Jeff Stiver said. “We played well in the midfield and up top, but we do have some improvements to make defensively. We are replacing some very experienced and skilled defenders from last year so we need to see some improvements as the season progresses. The only time we were in any type of trouble this game was when we put ourselves there.
Stiver said his team has a pair of tough match ups this week.
The Arrows (1-1) will host Milton-Union on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 6 p.m. and Lehman Catholic on Saturday at 2 p.m.
“Both are very good and both are undefeated,” he said.
