EATON — Eaton Police responded to a call Tuesday morning, Feb. 28, regarding a 2-year-old who had walked away from a daycare located on Washington Jackson Road in the city.

According to an initial EPD report, at approximately 7:50 a.m. on Feb. 28, Officer Pete Wray responded to the call after being advised of the situation by Officer Clinnie Stevenson.

”Officer Stevenson advised a juvenile complaint came in where it was reported a child walked away from the daycare located at the Washington Landing Offices,” Wray’s report noted. “I was told the child was back in the daycare but the caller wanted someone to speak to the daycare. I immediately responded to the Imagination Station Daycare located at 200 W Washington Jackson Rd. When I arrived and reviewed the dispatch notes it appeared to me the 2-year-old was located and back in the facility.

“I made contact in the office with a female employee (not identified) and asked if the child was safe and was told yes. I was told by the employee the young juvenile ran out the door, but is safely inside now.”

According to published reports, the toddler was found walking near Washington-Jackson Road by a passer-by.

Additional details were unavailable at press time as the investigation is ongoing.
