Dynegy offers lower electrical rates

CLAY TOWNSHIP — Township residents and small businesses, who are members of the township’s electric governmental aggregation program, have the opportunity to lower their electric bill.

“All the residents who are eligible in the township have received a letter from our aggregation company about our new electric carrier called Dynegy,” trustee Steve Woolf told the trustees at the March 6 trustee meeting.

“If residents are currently with AES and they don’t do anything, in 60 days they will roll right into Dynegy,” Woolf said.

Woolf indicated the current AES rate is 10.9 cents a kilowatt hour.

The fixed rate from Dynegy, Woolf said, is 6.950 a kilowatt hour.

According to Dynegy, residents and businesses may also opt for 100 percent renewable energy for 7.350 cents per kilowatt hour.

Dynegy indicated the township’s aggregate program will begin “within

one to two billing periods following your inclusion as a participant in the township’s program.”

Dynegy noted the program will end with the June 2025 meter reading.

Any township resident who received a letter, but doesn’t want to participate in the township program, may opt out at no charge by calling (888) 682-2170 by Monday, March 13.

According to Dynegy, residents who choose to leave the program at a later date, will be served by their utility under its standard service offer or until they choose an alternative supplier.

Dynegy noted if residents switch back to their utility, they may not be served under

the same rates, terms, and conditions that apply to other customers served by their utility.
