Residents encouraged to complete survey

BROOKVILLE — City officials are asking residents to complete a survey that will help shape the future of the city.

“Last spring we applied for and were awarded a $10,000 grant from the Dayton Foundation’s Del Mar Healthcare fund,” city manager Keaton said.

Keaton noted the city received $5,000 to “begin the assessment stage of the AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) Livable Age Friendly Communities multi-year planning effort.”

AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works to address the needs and interests of middle-aged and elderly people in the United States.

AARP membership is open to all persons age 50 or older, whether working or retired.

Keaton pointed out the initial funds were allocated for a community survey.

“The community survey touches on some of the eight domains of AARP’s livability framework,” Keaton said.

Keaton indicated the survey consists of questions on housing and economic development, mobility, parks and recreation, utilities and public safety.

Keaton said the survey also contains general questions.

“The survey will also assist the city with updating our comprehensive land plan, which we hope to begin that process, too,” Keaton said.

“Once we get the survey results in and have them analyzed, then that will be something we will probably look at this fall,” Keaton continued.

Keaton said residents may complete and submit the survey on line by going to the city’s website at www.brookvilleohio.com and clicking on the “ Developing Brookville’s Blueprint” link.

Keaton also said a hard copy of the survey is included in the April water bill.

She indicated the hard copy may be mailed or taken to the city building at 301 Sycamore St.

Deadline for the survey – both online and the hard copy – are due May 3.

“We are looking at ways to improve our community for all ages and allow residents to continue to live and thrive within our community as they age,” Keaton said.

“We encourage all residents to respond to the survey,” Keaton continued.
