KETTERING — With an 8-2 victory Thursday in Kettering and a 3-0 win Friday at home, the Northmont girls fastpitch softball team swept its season series from Fairmont.

Thursday the Lady Bolts took a 1-0 first inning lead, then added three more in the top of the third and never looked back.

Junior Zoey Hodge, freshman Jadyn Johnson and senior Sam McGilton each belted a home run to help power the offense. Hodge went 2-for-3 with a run and one RBI. Johnson went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs.

Freshman Lacie Knick went 2-for-3 with one run. McGilton went 1-for-2 with a run and one RBI. Senior Cardie McCormick went 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

Hodge earned the victory on the mound. She pitched all seven innings scattering six hits with one earned run, one walk and struck out eight.

“Defensively we made some fielding mistakes (four errors), which hopefully we will get better at,” said Northmont coach Kris Mangen. “We had three home runs last game and three home runs this game, so offensively I thought we did really well today.

“Zoey pitched well and Sydney Strickland at second base has done a phenomenal job,” Mangen added. “Offensively, I was real happy with the way we played and hopefully we can keep some momentum going for ourselves.”

That momentum carried over to a 3-0 victory Friday over Fairmont. Jadyn Johnson pitched six and one-third innings of shutout ball, scattered six hits, walked one and struck out four. Hodge pitched the final two-thirds of an inning to seal the deal.

Sam McGilton led the Lady Bolts with three hits in three at bats and scored one run. Morgan Pendleton went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Emily Bole, Zoey Hodge, Cardie McCormick and Sydney Strickland had one hit each.
