Thunderbolts split series with Wayne

HUBER HEIGHTS — With a 7-3 victory Monday at Wayne and an 11-4 loss Wednesday at home, the Northmont varsity baseball team split its season series with the Warriors.

During Monday’s victory the Thunderbolts scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning to put the game away.

Northmont generated 15 hits. Chris Gross went 3-for-3 with one RBI. Nathan Teller, who went 3-for-4 with a double, one run and a stolen base. Andrew Shingler went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBIs and two runs.

Brandon Hoops went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Jacob Beck went 2-for-4 with a double, one run and one RBI. A.J. Conti, Jamir Ross and Connor Price had one hit each.

Dylan Allamon pitched four innings, scattered five hits, issued four walks with two earned runs and eight strikeouts. Price pitched three innings, surrendered five hits, one earned run and had two strikeouts.

Cole Neely took the loss for Wayne. He worked four and two-thirds innings, surrendered seven hits, six earned runs with a walk and three strikeouts.

Wayne won Wednesday’s game at Northmont with two runs in the first, four in the third, one run in the fifth and sixth innings and three in the seventh. Northmont posted two runs in both the first and second innings.

Leading hitters for the Thunderbolts were Teller (2-for-three, one run, one RBI, one stolen base) and Beck (2-for-4, one run, one RBI).
