BROOKVILLE — The Brookville Baseball Club will kick off the 2023 season with its annual opening day parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 29.

The parade begins on Carr Drive and ends at Golden Gate Park.

“We have 392 kids playing this year and 34 teams,” BBC President Ann Stammen said.

“I’ve been involved (with the BBC) for five years and this is our biggest numbers yet. Our goal was 400 kids, but we’re excited about how many we have,” Stammen continued.

Stammen noted 12 of the teams are t-ball and ragball teams.

“So the future is bright,” Stammen said.

“We also have three 15 and under boys teams this year, so the older boys are playing too, which is exciting for us because we’ve been working to keep the older kids involved in playing,” Stammen said.

“We have a 95 percent retention from last year, which is awesome,” Stammen continued.

Stammen said all six of the diamonds have covered dugouts this year.

“We have officially covered all of the dugouts, so all the kids will be under shade in the heat of the summer,” Stammen said.

She noted seven of the 12 dugouts are sponsored this year.

Stammen said the club purchased an automated external defibrillator (AED) which will be kept inside the club’s concession stand.

Stammen indicated the club installed security cameras because of damages to the restroom facilities.

Stammen pointed out the BBC is a member of the Twin Valley Rec League.

The other members of the league are Preble Shawnee, Valley View, West Alexandria, New Lebanon, Lewisburg, Madison and Eaton.

Stammen also noted Brookville is the only league member that has a spring soccer program.

“Of our eight communities, we have the most kids playing baseball and soccer,” Stammen said.
