EATON — Preble County Commissioners met with the Executive Director of the PC Council on Aging, Shelley Ratliff, Monday, April 24. During the meeting, Ratliff updated the board on the status of the transit program in the county.

“Our mobility manger position is on hold now until 2024 — we had to part ways with the mobility manager that you met the last time,” began Ratliff.

Ratliff had introduced Tasha Wells as the mobility manager to the board during a meeting on Monday, Feb. 6.

“So, I talked to ODOT, and this seemed like the best thing to do,” Ratliff said.

Ratliff announced software for public transportation has been procured, all contracts have been signed with ODOT, and Ratliff is now working on “numerous” policies. Ratliff also noted an intended timeline for public transportation to begin.

“We’re probably looking at October for rides — of this year. Now, things could be, you know — it all depends on how things go.”

Ratliff expressed her confidence in the program, stating that things have worked well with ODOT thus far and she expects no change.

Ratliff also updated the board on the status of the senior center expansion, noting construction has begun. “They’ve got the roadways built out, and they should start building the actual walls soon after.”
