EATON — During the Monday, May 1, Board of Preble County Commissioners meeting, the board read into the record resolution #274-23-203, establishing the month of May as Older Americans Month in Preble County. Reading the proclamation was president of the board, Adam Craft.

“Whereas Preble County includes a growing number of older Americans who contribute their time, wisdom and experience to our community, and whereas communities benefit when people of all ages and abilities and backgrounds have the opportunity to participate and live independently.

“And whereas Preble County recognizes the need to create a community that offers services and support that older adults may need to make choices about how they age, and whereas Preble County can work to build an even better community for our older residents by being open minded about aging, exploring and combating stereotypes, emphasizing the many positive aspects of aging and inspiring older adults to push passed traditional boundaries and embrace our community’s diversity.

“And whereas the board of Preble County Commissioners commend, honor and offer our deepest respect to all senior citizens on the day for their gifts of knowledge, freedom and commitment to our nation. Therefore, be it resolved that the board of county commissioners is hereby proclaiming May 2023 as Older Americans Month in Preble County.”
